Review: I really enjoyed this book. It's been awhile since I read such a unique sci-fi story. The book follows Kalina, an eleven year old girl, her big brother Dain and several other interesting characters as the travel the universe trying to find a way to stop a plasma cloud that's destroying every planet and star in it's path, including Earth. The book takes place in a future where human beings have already explored several other galaxies and have everyday space ships.

The beginning of the book jumps right into the action and I personally would have liked a little more back story. Though the book is told in first person aka Kalina's POV, it often became third person and we'd suddenly see what the other characters were doing even if they were in a completely different place then Kalina. Kalina was also only eleven so it was odd when she supposedly narrating some parts of the story that were..er..mature. Also in the last chapter the POV suddenly changed to Dain, which is fine but it would have been better if it were labeled as such.

I really liked this book. S. D. Rasheed certainly has a talent for science fiction! :)
